2024 Fall Language Exchange Program Recruitment
Language Exchange Program (Doran Doran: 도란도란) is designed to help Korean and international students understand each other's language and culture by performing language exchange activities. The Office of Academic Planning (Language Education) seeks to recruit Korean and international students who can share their language and culture of their home country to cultivate our learning environment at GIST. We highly encourage you to participate in this program.
 
1. Purpose
- Korean and international students have time to talk together, practice English and Korean, and understand each other's culture.
 
2. Period
- 2024 Fall Semester (October 2, 2024 ~ December 5, 2024)
 
3. Activities
- Performing language exchange activities (Refer to the table below for examples)
* Face-to-face or non-face-to-face meetings & videos production (5 or more)
* Mandatory participation in orientation and closing ceremony
- Making Videos
* Format & submission cycle: The video format is free, and a video of less than 2 minute in length is submitted once every two weeks (total 5 videos)
*Contents: mutual language exchange and culture introduction

1. Campus life
- Information on major campus facilities (using the campus map)
- Library, Club activities, etc.
 
2. Hobby
- What you do when you have extra time
- Things you want to learn as a hobby, etc.
 
3. Food
- Your favorite/disliked food
- Restaurants you visit often, restaurants you want to recommend, etc.
 
4. Introduction of special days (Children's Day, Mother's Day, Teacher's Day)
- Introduction of holidays or anniversaries
- Cultural activities on special days (things you do, food you eat, gifts, etc.)
 
5. Shopping
- Things you want to buy
- Buying items at the supermarket, ordering online, etc.
 
6. Travel
- Destinations you want to visit
- What do you want to do on the specific place?
 
7. At the Cafe
- Order a drink
- What you do at the café, etc.
 
8. Heath
- Healthy habits (exercise, sleep, eating)
- Go to hospital (health center, internal medicine), etc.
 
9. Hometown
- Introduce your hometown
- Places you frequently visited in your hometown, etc.
 
10. Drama, movie, book
- Introduce movies, dramas, and books you enjoyed
- Introduce your favorite actors and writers
 
 
4. Recruitment Target
- Around 10 Korean (or students whose mother tongue is Korean) and Around 10 international students
* Students register individually and are matched with a partners
- Students eligible to be on campus during 2024 Spring semester
* No students on leave
 
5. Recruitment Deadline
- By 2024 September 25 (Wed.)

7. Review details
- Comprehensive evaluation of motivation, past experience in mentoring and/or exchange programs, activity plans, and willingness to participate shall be conducted, and the number of participants shall be selected depending on the demand and eligibility of applicants.
* Students with experience in language exchange programs or mentoring programs are given priority

※ Selection Criteria: Only when certain criteria are met by evaluating the subject, content, planning, creativity, etc.
- Souvenir gift from Language Exchange Program
- Gificons to support individual meetings (at least 4 times)

- Precautions
① Documents will not be returned.
② If applicants do not meet the selection criteria, fewer applicants may be selected, and the number of participants may vary depending on the number of international students and circumstances.
③ The videos and stories of participants may be posted on various media and used for public use in the future.
④ All rights, such as portrait rights of participants, belong to GIST.
⑤ If a participant fails to perform their duties, gives up, fails to meet activity standards, or causes controversy against social convention, activity subsidies may be suspended and activity benefits may be cancelled or recovered.
