[Undergraduate] English I(GS1607) and English II(GS2652) course exemption
○ Application Deadline: September 10, 2026 (Thu) 17:00 (Strictly Enforced)
※ Exemption applications for English I must be submitted within 2 weeks after enrollment.
※ Exemption applications for English II must be submitted within 2 weeks from the start of the regular semester for which exemption is sought.
* Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted, so please make sure to submit your documents within the specified period.
<Exemption from English I>
- graduated from high school in one of the 19 English-speaking countries (or non-listed: see below※)
(Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Malta, New Zealand, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom, United States)
- or holder of valid official English test; New TEPS 310, iBT 4.5, IELTS 6.5 or above
※ For iBT scores taken before Jan 21, 2026: score 90 or above
- and passed a separate English proficiency test administered by English instructors
※ Official documentation of high school graduation from other than 19 countries above and certificates or transcripts demonstrating that courses were taught in English. All documents must be submitted with an Apostille certification or notarized Korean translations.
※ Students eligible for English exemption must submit the ‘Application for English Course Exemption’ together with relevant supporting documents to the Language Education Center by September 10th 17:00. Once submitted, you will be scheduled for the English proficiency test, which is strictly for those who have not taken the English I course. Please note that you have only 1 chance to take the test, and it will be conducted after the course registration add/drop period ends. Even if you submit the application, you cannot take the test unless you cancel your English I course registration. If you fail the test, completing the course is mandatory for graduation, whereas if passed, a grade of 'S' is awarded and retaking is not allowed.
※ The relevant English test score report obtained prior to enrollment. (must be submitted within 2 weeks after enrollment).
<Exemption from English II>
- Must have completed English I
- And holder of valid official English test; iBT 5.5, IELTS 8.0 or above
※ For iBT scores taken before Jan 21, 2026: score 110 or above
※ The relevant English test score report obtained after enrollment. (must be submitted within 2 weeks from the start of the regular semester for exemption).
<Submission Method>
① Print and fill out the attached ‘Application for English Course Exemption’.
② Your advisor’s signature can be replaced by a printed email showing their approval. (Leave the Director's signature blank.)
③ Required Documents: (1) Application Form, (2) Printed Email Approval from Advisor (if applicable), (3) Supporting Documents (Copy of Score Report or Graduation Certificate, etc.)
④ Submission Place: In-person submission to Language Education Center (College Bldg. B, Room 102)
